Rafoxanide               30 mg

Description and Indications

DESCRIPTION:

Rafoxanide is a halogenated salicylanilides anthelmintic which is highly effective against fascioliasis in cattle, sheep, goats and horses. Rafoxanide is also active against gastrointestinal nematodes (Haemonchus, Bunostomum,  Oesophagostomum, and Gaigeria species) and against the sheep nasal bot fly (Oestrus ovis). It may be given orally or parenterally.  Rafoxanide acts by uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation of flukes including reduced ATP levels, decreased glycogen content and accumulation of succinate .The drug is well absorbed and has a good safety profile.

 

INDICATIONS:

SPECTRA NIDE is especially indicated in treatment and control of acute and chronic Liver Flukes Infestation in cattle and sheep , it is effective in mature and immature stage of liver flukes                 ( Fasciola hepatica, Fasciola gigantica, Dicrocoelium dendriticum ), Blood sucking nematodes                      ( Haemonchus spp., Bunostomum spp., Trichuris spp., Oesophagostomum spp. ) and tissue invading Flies larvae ( Oestrus  Ovis,  Lucilia spp.,  Hypoderma spp. ).

 

Dosage

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Oral

GENERAL PHARMACOLOGICAL DOSE:  5 - 15 mg / kg b.w. 

DOSAGE:                     

Sheep and Cattle: 2.5 – 4 ml / 10 kg body weight, the dose can be repeated 4-6 weeks later depending on the grade of pasture  contamination.

 

Pharmaceutical Precautions
Withdrawal Period

Do not use animal products during treatment and within 28 days from the last treatment.
