Composition

Each 1 ml contains:

Oxyclozanide                              60 mg

Levamisole Hydrochloride        30 mg

Description and Indications

DESCRIPTION:

SPECTRA ZANIDE FORTE is a combination of Oxyclozanide and Levamisole HCl.        

oxyclozanide is a salicylanilide anthelmintic , used for treatment of fascioliasis in cattle and sheep. the mechanism of action of oxyclozanide is to affect the energy production of the parasite by uncoupling the oxidative phosphorylation in flukes. Levamisole Hydrochloride (L-isomer) of tetramisole and posses a broad spectrum anthelmintic for the treatment and  controlof gastro-intestinal and pulmonary nematodes infections in cattle and sheep, effective against mature and developing immature stages of the levamisole-susceptible nematode worms.

INDICATIONS:

SPECTRA ZANIDE FORTE is a broad spectrum anthelmintic for use in the treatment of both gastro-intestinal and pulmonary nematode and adult liver fluke infections in cattle and sheep only.

SPECTRA ZANIDE FORTE should be used in cases of parasitic gastroenteritis caused by gastro-intestinal worms (as Haemonchus spp, Ostertagia spp (except inhibited ostertagia larvae in cattle), Trichostronylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp.and lung worm disease ( Dictyocaulus spp) caused by mature and developing immature froms of those organisims sensitive to treatment with levamisole hydrochloride.

SPECTRA ZANIDE FORTE also removes most mature fasciola spp. (flukes) present in the bile duct of the liver.

Dosage

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Oral

GENERAL PHARMACOLOGICAL DOSE:   

Levamisole Hydrochloride: 7.5 mg / kg b.w.

Oxyclozanide : 15 mg / kg b.w. 

DOSAGE:     

Cattle:  2.5 ml / 10kg body weight.

Sheep: 0.5 ml / 2kg body weight

Pharmaceutical Precautions

Cattle must not be treated within a period of 14 days before or after treatment with organophosphorus compounds .

Withdrawal Period

Animal meat should not be used for human consumption during treatment and within 5 days from the last treatment.

Milk from treated cattle and sheep should not be used for human consumption.
