DESCRIPTION :

LINCOLIN is a combination of  Lincomycin and Spectinomycin .

Lincomycin a bacteriostatic antibiotic derived from Streptomyces lincolnensis, active against gram-positive bacteria, obligate anaerobes and mycoplasma but has little activity against gram-negative organisms. Lincomycin exerts its antibacterial action by inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis by acting on the 50S subunit ribosome.

Spectinomycin is an aminocyclitol antibiotic produced by Streptomyces spectabilis. It is active against some gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It exerts its bacterostatic effect by binding to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and inhibiting the translation of protein synthesis. It is not well absorbed after oral administration .
